Honor Guard / by Sarah

Yesterday I had the honor of attending a full military funeral at the United States Military Academy at West Point.  It was for my husband's great uncle, Colonel William F. Meany , who passed away at 99 years old.  The funeral was a celebration of life really, as he was the second oldest living West Point graduate, and had lead a long and full life.  As Col. Meany was being laid to rest next to his wife in the West Point graveyard, a trumpet and drum player sounded Taps and the honor guard fired a three-volley salute.  It was quite a special and moving experience and I was honored to be a part of it.
